How Your Gift Makes a Difference

How Your Gift Makes a Difference

Every child in New York City has a right to learn.  For over 40 years AFC has protected that right for the children and youth most likely to fall through the cracks of our education system because of their poverty, race, disability, language barriers, homelessness or involvement in the foster care or juvenile justice systems.

With your donation AFC can do a lot of good for NYC children!
Last year, AFC served over 12,000 students and their families
at a cost of only $147 per child.

  • $1,000 – Contributes to the cost of a trained staff attorney to protect the educational rights of a child with special needs.

  • $500 – Provides basic training for 25 pro bono lawyers to represent low-income families of children with disabilities.

  • $250 – Provides information in multiple languages to 500 parents participating in AFC workshops so they can learn to advocate for their children’s rights.

  • $100 – Helps pay for an advocate to get a young person who has become truant back in school.
