Machella Raymond didn’t have the easiest childhood….but that didn’t stop her. After spending years in foster care and being homeless, she graduated high school with honors and received a scholarship…Machella’s visit to the White House was part of the first lady’s “Reach Higher” initiative to encourage young people to pursue their dreams through college. The National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth and Advocates for Children in New York sponsored her participation. Read article
